Porter-Cable 18001 6-Inch 6-Hole Hook and Loop Standard Pad for 7336 and 97366 Random Orbit Sander
This pad features a high-quality, durable design. Designed to fit 7336 and 97366 Random Orbit Sander, this pad features efficient, 6-hole dust collection. Installation is quick and easy with the built-in mounting thread. This 6-inch diameter pad accommodates 6-inch hook and loops discs. This item is sold individually.
Customer Review: Adding new uses to the PC 7424 Polisher as a Sander
If you own the Porter Cable 7424 Polisher the addition of the PC 18001 6-inch 6-hole hook and loop standard pad allows you to have the equivalent PC 7336 Sander - giving you in effect two separate machines. It should also be noted that the Porter-Cable 73333 Dust Collection System works with the 7424 Polisher if the 18001 standard pad in attached for sanding.
Customer Review: Hook and Loop Sanding Pan
I had a lot of vibration in my Porter-Cable random orbit sander. I replaced the hook and loop pad and WA LA the vibration was gone.

DEWALT DW421K 5-Inch Heavy Duty Random Orbit Palm Sander
DeWalt's 5-inch random-orbit sander is a great tool for professional woodworkers and painters, as well as homeowners looking for a reliable sander for do-it-yourself projects. It has a 2 amp motor that provides 12,000 orbits per minute, with a 3/32 orbit diameter. Its controlled finishing system maintains consistent control over the pad speed, minimizing gouging at startup. We found that the sander removes material quickly and leaves a good finish. While it has less vibration than many sanders we've tried--thanks in part to DeWalt's dual-plane counterbalanced fan--we found that gripping the tool from the side rather than from the top seemed easier on the hands, and thought the top grip could get tiresome in extended-use situations. We liked the dust canister configuration on this tool, which uses a simple and effective twist-lock mechanism to prevent air pressure from popping the canister off the tool. The sealed switch prevents problems from dust contamination. The kit comes with the sander, a dust collector, a vacuum attachment, and a case. --Brian Trinen
Customer Review: a hard working sander
I've had this sander for about 4 years now, and it gets moderate to heavy use. I've used a couple of other leading brands before, and I have nothing but good things to say for the DW421! The dust bag used to fall off from time to time, but no more. I didn't do anything to fix it, it just stopped falling off. I have recently replaced the hook/loop pad for the first time, and I change paper a lot. The finish quality is superb, with no swirls, and it really works fast! The finish is very good when using DeWalt brand papers, but I like the Klingspor paper just a bit better. I have just gotten the DeWalt D26451K, but I'm definitely going to keep the 421. If you want a doggone good sander, buy this one.
Customer Review: only one drawback
I purchased this sander new from Home Depot and used it. After a (in my opinion) brief amount of time, the loops let go. There was no accident, or misuse of the sander, they just gave out and refused to hold the paper. Another reviewer said 50 sheets. That sounds about right. I too was dissappointed that I had to purchase a $20 replacement pad/loop part. I considered the Rigid brand when the HD employee told me they stand behind their sanders for the life of the sander. To do over,I'd purchase the Rigid sander.

Customer Review: Simple and Solid
Received this ROS a couple of weeks ago and I have been using it to sand down teak deck chairs that needed to be refinished. I am pleased with it so far. It is a little heavy for sanding that requires a lot of repositioning and odd-angle sanding but it performs solidly. The absence of variable speeds is a bit of a drawback but if the interest is to find a simple, solid performer at a good price, the PC343K fits the bill.
Customer Review: Worked excellent the frist time.
I used this product on some fiberglass I was sanding. It did an excellent job or removing the old fiberglass so I could add a patch.

Customer Review: Dewalt let me down
Let me start by saying that I have LOVED all my Dewalt tools. But, this sander sucks! At least the one I received. I have an eight year old DW 421 ROS that has served me well with my only complaints being the rubber sealed switch that has always been tempermental and it being underpowered. I have been shopping for a new ROS for a while now with variable speed and more power being two requirements. The highly rated Porter Cables never quite felt right in my hands and the Bosch sanders seemed to have too much vibration when in use. I was excited to see the ad about the new Dewalt sanders- bigger motor, cool new look, and it is a Dewalt!...I was on the list to receive one of the first ones. It finally came, it looked a little plasticy, but still cool. I plugged it in and turned it on (same lame sealed switch but not worn out like my old one) and the sander came to life- it had a wierd high pitched kazoo-like sound that had me concerned but I was going to see how it sounded in action. The variable speed control was really hard to turn, but I suspect that would get easier as it wears. I put on a new 150 grit sheet and tested it out. It didn't feel good in my hands, the top was big and odd shaped. The high pitched vibration sound was still there. It sanded as well as my old sander but not better. I decided to do a three way comparison with my old DW421 2.0 amp, my friends Bosch 1295 DVS 2.2 amp, and the new D26453K. The Bosch had both Dewalts beat on build quality and power when sanding but without the CFS it just doesn't sand as well (I think what I'm sensing is consistent pad speed on and off the wood that the CFS provides for the Dewalts) The Bosch had more vibration than my old Dewalt but less than the new one. The pad on the new Dewalt stalled as easily as my old one and as I previously mentioned I couldn't tell that this sander was more powerful. I could not rotate the variable speed switch with my thumb while operating it- too stiff. And that horrible sound!! I'm sure I got a less than perfect copy, but I am still disappointed in Dewalt for either poor quality control or if they are all like that, for a sucky new ROS.

Makita BO6030 2.7 Amp 6-Inch Random Orbit Variable Speed Sander with Cloth Dust Bag
Amps: 2.7, Disc Diameter (in.): 6, OPM: 4,000 - 10,000, Tool Length (in.): 12 1/8, Dust Bag Included: Yes
Customer Review: Nice tool
This is a well-priced, dependable sander. It's not dust-free, but the dust bag reduces the dust substantially and is very easy to get on and off to empty. There's nothing fancy about this tool, but it does a good job and hasn't let me down. My only complaint is that can be difficult to find the sanding discs.
Customer Review: not bad at all
I have the Bosch 3727 6" sander and this Makita is as good as that is..it also offers an extra hole for dust collection that is placed in the center of the disc to pick up anything that collects there..I love the Bosch because of the extremely low vibration along with a nice swirl free finish and this Makita delivers the same plus it comes with two sets of six dust collection holes for a total of twelve in the pad with the option of using sanding discs with the dust collection holes either on the extreme outside rim or a little more towards the center which is what the Bosch has. I think the holes which are located way out on the rim are for makita sanding discs and the disc that comes with the sander has those holes and works better than my standard discs which I see on all the other sanders out there..short of buying the Festool this and the Bosch are both next in line and cost less too..

Featuring DeWalt's exclusive Controlled Finishing System (CFS), the D26450 random orbit sander delivers speed and precision for beautiful, smooth finished products. Finish quality is further enhanced with the use of a soft microcellular backing pad. The pliable pad ensures a smooth, fine finish on flat or contoured surfaces.
Customer Review: A little disappointed
I picked this up as part of a combo pack that included a Bosch variable speed jig saw. I've used it for a good 8 months or so through a handful of home woodworking projects. On the plus side, this sander has EXCELLENT dust control, even using just the canister unit. Power seems adequate. Feels comfortable in the hand. Bosch customer service is helpful and responsive. On the negative side, I feel the tool could be more aggressive in material removal. But the major problem is I can't get over how this tool vibrates. Out of the box the vibration was so bad it felt like it was bouncing. Sanding results were poor. I sent it in for repair and it came back the same way. Sent it in for repair again, same problem. So after contacting Bosch directly I was referred to a manager at the nearest service center. He told me to send it in again and he would ship out a replacement tool at no charge. The replacement tool is better, but it still vibrates. I've heard this is common to some sanders, and I'm convinced this is a trait for this model. Sanding results are OK, but the vibration is aggravating over longer periods of sanding. It's unfortunate because I've been pleased with every other Bosch tool I've owned. Nonetheless, I'm looking for a replacement sander. I just wish I could try one before I buy it...
Customer Review: Very nice
Keep in mind I am new to wood working and this is the first elec hand held sander I have ever owned. This sander fills good in your hand. The rubber grip on top feels like non slip material. The weight of the item tells you its not cheap. When in use the vibration of the sander is not unbalanced or womble at all. The craftsmenship of this product is what you would expect from any product made by Bosch.

Customer Review: Easy on the hands and no visible swirl marks!
I've used this sander now for a few months doing trim carpentry work. And I love it. The reason I bought the psa with no dust collection was I don't like buying special paper with holes in it and I don't like a bag hanging of the end of the sander. This sander is the smoothest running sander I've used other than a pneumatic one, which is good on the hands since there is little vibration. I can tell that the motor speeds up or slows down when lifted or placed down on the surface from the load control but it is a smooth transition. I have used 100 and 120 grit paper sanding oak and maple and have been amazed at the results. I have not had to get out the 1/4 sheet sander to go over anything since I've not had any swirl marks. And it seems like the paper last a lot longer in this sander than my previous one. I don't use the variable speed control much but like the position of the dial, as it's easy to adjust while using. The handle may be a little big for some but I find it easier and sometimes more comfortable to grip it cloesr to the back. I would recommend this sander to anyone who is a hobbyist or professional looking for a high quality sander.
